The card collector's view

1979 Topps #390 is Campbell’s rookie card and the most-chased Houston Oilers piece of the late 1970s. The 1980 Topps and 1981 Topps cards from his MVP and back-to-back rushing-title years anchor the vintage flagship pieces. For premium collectors, his Panini National Treasures patch-autographs and Oilers/Titans retrospective jersey relics offer the high-end memorabilia options.

About Earl Campbell at FreshDCards

Earl Campbell ran like he was personally angry with every defender he met. The Tyler Rose won the 1977 Heisman at Texas, then went first overall to Houston in 1978 and immediately took home Offensive Rookie of the Year, the rushing title, and an MVP-caliber season. He won three straight rushing titles and the 1979 NFL MVP, but his punishing style cost him: by 30, his body was done. Five Pro Bowls in eight seasons, an HOF first-ballot induction in 1991, and one of the most feared running games in NFL history.
