The Pittsburgh Pirates have given baseball some of its most beloved and iconic figures. Pull up a chair in your fan cave and celebrate every Bucco who earned a place in Cooperstown.
Roberto Clemente
Roberto Clemente was the heart and soul of the Pittsburgh Pirates, a breathtaking right fielder whose brilliance on the field was matched only by the grace and generosity he showed off it. He spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, becoming one of the most beloved figures in the history of the franchise and of the game itself. When he was tragically lost on New Year's Eve 1972 while delivering aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua, baseball waived its standard waiting period and inducted him into the Hall of Fame the very next year, a testament to the man he was in every sense.
