The card collector's view

Sakic's rookie card is the 1989-90 O-Pee-Chee #113 — the most desirable Sakic RC, with high-grade copies in steady demand. The 1989-90 Topps #113 is the US-market parallel sharing the same checklist position. Junk-wax-era print runs make raw copies affordable; PSA 10s carry the premium. O-Pee-Chee, Topps, Upper Deck, and Pinnacle releases from 1990-2009 cover his Nordiques and Avalanche years. Modern Upper Deck SP Authentic, The Cup, and retrospective Avalanche sets offer signed and patch options.

About Joe Sakic at FreshDCards

Joe Sakic is Burnaby Joe — the franchise centerpiece of the Quebec-then-Colorado run. He moved with the team to Denver in 1995 and one year later they were Cup champions, with Sakic taking the Conn Smythe. In 2001 the Avs won it again — and after the trophy was handed to him at center ice, Sakic immediately handed it to Ray Bourque before lifting it himself. He played 20 seasons in one franchise, won the 2001 Hart Trophy and Lady Byng in the same year (a rare double), and retired with 1,641 career points.
