March 26 in Dodgers History: Jackie Robinson Posthumously Awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom (1984)

Jackie Robinson was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States, by President Ronald Reagan on March 26, 1984. Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, attended the White House ceremony to accept the honor on behalf of her late husband.
