March 10 in Dodgers History: Walter Alston elected to Baseball Hall of Fame (1983)

Walter Alston, the long-time manager of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee on March 10, 1983. Alston managed the Dodgers to four World Series championships during his tenure from 1954-1976.
