Sandy Koufax made his major league debut on June 24, 1955, entering as a relief pitcher against the Milwaukee Braves and allowing one hit while recording two strikeouts over two scoreless innings. Koufax had signed with the organization for $14,000 the previous December and was added to the active roster at the expense of Tommy Lasorda, who was optioned to Triple-A Montreal.
