January 5 in Dodgers History: Vin Scully Wins Ford C. Frick Award and Elected to Hall of Fame (1982)

Vin Scully was named the 1982 Ford C. Frick Award recipient and elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming just the sixth announcer enshrined at Cooperstown. The accomplishment was celebrated at Dodger Stadium on January 5, 1982, with a press conference featuring a phone call from President Ronald Reagan.
