Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax did not report for spring training, beginning a 32-day holdout to demand a combined three-year, $1 million contract. Their coordinated action is widely considered the first time players banded together and is credited with altering the economics of baseball.
