April 5 in Dodgers History: Ebbets Field opens with Brooklyn Dodgers exhibition game against New York Yankees (1913)

The Brooklyn Dodgers played their first game at the newly opened Ebbets Field on April 5, 1913, hosting the New York Yankees in an exhibition game before more than 25,000 fans. The Dodgers won 3-2 with a walk-off single by Red Smith in the bottom of the ninth inning.
