On April 9, 1990 — Delino DeShields, the 21 year-old second baseman of the Montreal Expos , goes 4-for-6 to become only the second rookie to collect four hits in an Opening Day debut. The St. Louis Cardinals however beat the Expos 6-5 in 11 innings at Busch Stadium on a Willie Mcgee walk off single.
