Jeff Kent: The Greatest Hitting Second Baseman

Jeff Kent was the greatest hitting second baseman of his era, and one of the greatest of all time. Over a long career he redefined what was possible from the position, and in San Francisco he became an MVP and the centerpiece of a contender.

Kent won the 2000 National League MVP as a Giant and hit more home runs than any second baseman in Major League history, 377 in all. A five-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger, he drove in more than 1,500 runs and made elite run production look routine.

His No. 21 is part of Giants lore, and in 2026 he took his place in Cooperstown.
