Back in the spring we told you the rumor: WWE was eyeing the champion Knicks for Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden. Well — it’s no longer a rumor. Finals MVP Jalen Brunson has accepted Roman Reigns’ invitation, and the two will stand tall together at MSG this Saturday, July 18 — the first Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Garden since 2007. And in a twist only New York could script, Danhausen — the “very nice, very evil” demon who declared the Knicks UNCURSED mid-playoffs — is on the very same card. Brunsonhausen isn’t a bit anymore. It’s Garden folklore made real.
How we got here
The legend goes like this: Danhausen “uncursed” the franchise during the first round, the Knicks stopped losing, and New York won its first NBA title since 1973. Danhausen crowned himself “The King of New York.” Brunson, a genuine WWE guy who stood tall at SmackDown inside MSG back in 2024, was the perfect co-star. Put them together and you get Brunsonhausen. Saturday night at the Garden
WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event returns to Madison Square Garden Saturday, July 18, streaming 8pm ET on Peacock. Reigns and Brunson appear live together, and the card features CM Punk & Cody Rhodes, the Women’s Tag Team Titles, and yes — Danhausen in the ring. The champion Knicks, the King of New York, and the demon who uncursed them, all under one roof.
