Don Drysdale broke Hall of Famer Walter Johnson's consecutive scoreless innings record on June 8, 1968, against the Philadelphia Phillies, extending it to 58.2 innings before allowing a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning that ended his streak. Drysdale was a nine-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion in his career with the Dodgers.
