The card collector's view

Lafleur's rookie card is the 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee #148 — famously misspelled 'La Fleur' on the front — a vintage Canadiens cornerstone with high-grade examples in strong demand. Topps did not include Lafleur in their 1971-72 set, making the OPC version the only mainstream rookie. O-Pee-Chee and Topps releases from 1972-91 cover his entire Canadiens, Rangers, and Nordiques career. Modern Upper Deck SP Authentic, Parkhurst Champions, and retrospective Canadiens sets offer signed memorabilia for the Lafleur collection.

About Guy Lafleur at FreshDCards

Guy Lafleur is The Flower — the Quebec-born winger whose long blonde hair, untied helmet, and breakaway speed defined Canadiens hockey in the late 1970s. Five Stanley Cups, four of them straight (1976-1979). 50 goals and 100 points in six consecutive seasons — still an NHL record. Three Art Ross Trophies. The 1977 Conn Smythe. He retired in 1985 to a five-minute standing ovation at the Forum, came out of retirement four years later with the Rangers, and finished his career with a final season back in Quebec wearing Nordiques colors.
